RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) Punjab Tourism Department and TDCP have temporarily suspended the Patriata cable car service on safety grounds, while the chairlift service continues to operate normally.
Officials said international experts from Austria recommended replacement of the cable car’s iron rope after a technical inspection. The new rope has been ordered and will be imported, which may take up to one-and-a-half months.
DG North said the service will be restored after completion of all safety requirements, adding that tourist safety remains the top priority.

A new state-of-the-art safari train is being introduced at Kashmir Point, while electric carts will also be launched in Murree to facilitate visitors.
He added that several tourism projects, including a glass walkway, chairlifts, a paragliding club and a modern resort, are underway to boost tourism in the area.
