ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) The residents of Islamabad celebrated Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday with great religious zeal and fervour, offering special prayers and performing Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi in remembrance of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
The day began with large Eid congregations at mosques and open grounds across the Federal capital, where worshippers prayed for peace, prosperity and stability of the country and unity among the Muslim Ummah.
Citizens exchanged Eid greetings with relatives and friends and performed the ritual sacrifice in accordance with Islamic teachings. Families gathered to enjoy traditional dishes and social festivities, while many distributed meat among the poor and deserving people to share the joy of Eid.
Special arrangements were made by the district administration and sanitation workers to maintain cleanliness and ensure timely disposal of animal waste during the three days of Eid.
Residents expressed happiness and spiritual satisfaction over celebrating the religious festival with devotion and enthusiasm.
Talking to APP, Inam, a resident of Sector I-8, said he and his father buy either a goat or cow every year to observe the occasion, adding that the day reminds Muslims of sacrifice, patience, and obedience to Allah Almighty.
He stressed the importance of remembering deserving families during Eid-ul-Azha and sharing blessings with them to ensure they are included in the joy of the occasion.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Another citizen, Zarmeena, told APP that Eid-ul-Azha beautifully strengthened the spirit of unity, compassion and brotherhood among people, bringing families, neighbours and communities closer together and reminding everyone of the values of sacrifice, generosity and care for the underprivileged.
“The real beauty of Eid lies in caring for others and spreading happiness in society,” she remarked.
Children were seen also enjoying the festive atmosphere in parks and residential areas, wearing new clothes and exchanging gifts and sweets with friends and family members.
Saad, a ten-year-old resident of Bara Kahu, said he was going with his father to visit his aunt’s family where he would meet his cousin. He shared that his family sacrificed a goat this year and planned to share the meat and sweets with her. He added that his father had already distributed portions of the goat’s meat among deserving families.
He said his father had promised to take him to a nearby park, adding that he was excited to play and enjoy the outing.
Security arrangements remained in place across the city, with police personnel deployed at mosques, markets and other public places to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Eid-ul-Azha conveys the values of sacrifice, compassion and brotherhood, inspiring people to support one another and contribute towards peace, harmony and the progress of the nation.
