A significant career fair titled “Access, Ability, Careers 2026” was organized in a local hall in Shaheed Benazirabad to enhance employment opportunities for persons with disabilities

NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) A significant career fair titled “Access, Ability, Careers 2026” was organized in a local hall in Shaheed Benazirabad to enhance employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

The event was held with the collaboration of the Sindh Government’s Department of Special Education, the Sindh Persons with Disabilities Protection Authority (SPDPA), and ConnectHear.

The event was attended by Member of Sindh Assembly Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Secretary Special education Taha Ahmed Farooqi, and Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division Shahmir Khan Bhutto as chief guests. Various public and private organizations set up stalls to offer employment opportunities to persons with disabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio stated that the Sindh Government is taking serious measures for the welfare of persons with disabilities and ensuring implementation of the 5% job quota in government institutions. He also urged private sector organizations to comply with the law and provide employment opportunities to persons with disabilities.

Secretary Special Education Taha Ahmed Farooqi said that the purpose of the event is to connect persons with disabilities with companies that provide inclusive work environments, enabling them to become economically independent.

He added that implementation of the special quota in the private sector remains limited, but the government is taking steps to improve the situation.

He further informed that similar job fairs are being organized across the province.

A Down Syndrome institute has been established in Hyderabad, and more than 10 autism centers are operational in Sindh.

Commissioner Shahmir Khan Bhutto, in his address, emphasized that persons with disabilities are an important part of society and empowering them is a shared responsibility. He appreciated the Special Education Department for providing such a platform and announced that a display center will be established to showcase and sell products made by persons with disabilities.

It was highlighted during the event that over 500 CVs were received from persons with disabilities, while more than 200 individuals without CVs were registered and their data collected to facilitate job placements in private organizations.

The event was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani, Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed, CEO ConnectHear Azeema Dhanji, DG SPDPA Ghulam Farooq Laghari, Regional Director Special Education Nisar Ahmed Brohi, VC Quest Dr Saleem Raza Samon, , President NDF Abid Lashari, along with officials from various departments, experts, company representatives, and a large number of persons with disabilities.

According to the organizers, the career fair will not only create employment opportunities but also help persons with disabilities become active and dignified members of society.
