Caretaker CM condemns militant attack on police in Thor area, seeks report

ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Caretaker Chief Minister, Gilgit-Baltistan has strongly condemned a militant attack on police in the Thor area of Chilas, officials said on Tuesday.

Justice (retd) Yar Muhammad denounced the incident in which gunmen opened fire on police personnel, vowing that those responsible would be brought to justice and their “nefarious designs” thwarted.

The CM directed authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of the attackers involved in the assault on police while they were on duty, and sought a detailed report from the provincial home secretary.

Paying tributes to the police personnel killed in the attack, he praised their sacrifice and offered prayers for their ranks to be elevated.

He also instructed the provincial health secretary to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment the injured.
