ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) The sale and production of cars in the country increased by 45.43 percent and 51.29 percent, respectively, during the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2025–26 compared to the same period last year, demonstrating a revival in economic activity and growing consumer confidence in the automobile market.
During July–March (2025-26), as many as 109,655 cars were sold as against 75,397 units during the corresponding months of last year, while production rose to 115,495 units from 76,339 units, according to official data of the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).
Among different models, the sale of Honda cars increased by 52.16 percent, rising from 11,460 units last year to 17,438 units during the period under review.
Similarly, the combined sale of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris grew by 70.20 percent to reach 27,045 units compared to 15,890 units sold during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The sale of Suzuki Swift also recorded a substantial growth of 96.01 percent, increasing from 5,891 units to 11,547 units. Hyundai Elantra sales also climbed to 1,961 units from 1,177 units.
Meanwhile, Suzuki Cultus sales rose to 3,717 units from 1,984 units during the corresponding months of last year. Suzuki Alto remained the top-selling model in the country, with sales increasing to 41,265 units compared to 31,284 units in the same period last year, reflecting strong demand in the small car segment.
The sale of Suzuki Every also witnessed a sharp increase of 206.21 percent, rising from 1,930 units to 5,910 units during the months under review, largely driven by higher demand in the light commercial and small transport segments.
Meanwhile, the country’s transition towards cleaner transportation also gained momentum as 263 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were sold during July–March of the current fiscal year.
On the production side, Honda cars’ output increased by 60.95 percent from 11,005 units to 17,713 units during the nine-month period.
Similarly, the production of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris also grew by 69.42 percent, increasing from 16,094 units to 27,268 units during the period under review.
Suzuki Swift production also rose significantly by 101.12 percent, increasing from 5,958 units to 11,983 units, while Hyundai Elantra production increased to 2,307 units from 1,510 units.
The production of Suzuki Cultus also climbed to 3,388 units from 2,024 units, whereas Suzuki Alto production rose to 47,716 units compared from 31,290 units during the same period last year.
Suzuki Every production also posted an increase of 11.52 percent, rising from 3,955 units to 4,411 units during the nine-month period.
Meanwhile, as many as 240 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were produced during July–March (2025-26), reflecting the gradual entry of electric mobility into Pakistan’s automobile sector.
