CEO PCCC says, small adjustments in crop management increase cotton produce

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Chief Executive Officer, Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC), Dr. Khadim Hussain paid a visit to Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI), here Wednesday where he held meetings with agricultural scientists and reviewed ongoing research and field activities in detail.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khadim Hussain said that by making small but effective changes in crop management and agronomic practices within existing resources, a significant increase in per acre cotton yield is possible.

He emphasized that regular soil testing and balanced use of fertilizers according to analytical reports not only enhance produce but also improve crop health.

He termed timely and effective control of dusky cotton bug as essential, stating that it not only reduces yield but also adversely affects the quality of cotton lint.

He declared prompt measures for its control as extremely necessary.

Dr. Khadim Hussain further stated that better land management, maintaining the required plant population per acre, and adopting high-density plantation can also significantly increase overall cotton production.

He also visited the experimental fields of the institute, termed the crop condition satisfactory and healthy, and appreciated the professional efforts of the agricultural scientists.

During the visit, heads of various departments including Sajid Mahmood, Dr. Muhammad Akbar, and Muhammad Ilyas Sarwar also accompanied him, in addition to officers from RIDS Pakistan. Later, the CEO PCCC met with the Director CCRI Multan, Ms. Sabahhat, where administrative and official matters of the institute were discussed. He listened carefully to the issues and assured full cooperation for their resolution.
