CEO PEDO visits under-construction 69MW Lawi HPP

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2026) The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) Engineer Anwar ul Haq visited PEDO’s ongoing energy project 69 MW Lawi Hydropower Project in District Chitral.

He was accompanied by Member Hydro power, Chief Engineer Development, Director (M&E) and Deputy Director Development during the visit.

The PEDO chief visited the important locations of the project site including the weir/intake area, box channel and sedimentation basin.

Project Director Lawi Power Project briefed the delegation on the progress of work at the weir site.

Engineer Anwarul Haq advised the project stakeholders to thoroughly review the slope protection measures and drain design to ensure prevention of future flood incidents.

The delegation later visited the Headrace Tunnel, where the delegation was also briefed on the ongoing progress of underground excavation and related ancillary works.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive PEDO stressed the need to expedite construction activities. During the visit, the importance of proper management of the flood channel passing between the power house and the switchyard was emphasized and instructions were given to ensure its proper channelization to mitigate potential flood hazards in the future.

Furthermore, CEO emphasized on timelines, proactive planning, and effective coordination among all stakeholders to ensure timely and quality completion of the project.
