Chairman SLA Mehrani briefs minister on ongoing projects, language promotion efforts

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) The Chairman of the Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) Dr. Sher Mehrani called on the provincial minister for tourism, culture and antiquities Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah at his office and briefed him on the ongoing projects of the authority.

According to a statement issued by the authority’s spokesperson Saleem Jarwar on Thursday, the provincial minister expressed satisfaction over the performance of the institution and emphasized the need to promote and develop the Sindhi language in line with contemporary challenges.

He said that language was our identity and its preservation was a national and moral responsibility.

Dr. Mehrani informed the minister that centers for teaching the Sindhi language had been established in Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad as well as in Khairpur and Shaheed Benazirabad, where admissions were currently underway.

He further told that efforts were also being made to preserve the original vocabulary of the Sindhi language, adding that the authority was making all possible efforts to achieve its objectives.
