KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) Chairperson Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW), Rubina Aman Brohi, stressing on the need to spread awareness of women rights on Wednesday, said that efforts were underway to ensure implementation on fundamental rights of women.
She was addressing a “Kachehri session” (community dialogue) organized by the Commission in Shaheed Benazirabad district as part of the campaign “Know Your Laws, Know Your Rights,” launched in connection with National and International Women’s Day to raise awareness among women, said a statement issued here.
Rubina Brohi provided detailed awareness on women’s rights, particularly focusing on the prevention of child marriages and stressed that it is essential for women to be aware of their legal rights so they can raise their voices for their fundamental rights.
She assured the women that all their issues would be conveyed to the relevant authorities. She emphasized that such community engagements would continue so that issues could be directly heard and incorporated into government policies and schemes.
Advocate Rubina Brohi stated that the Sindh Government was continuously striving for women’s rights and enacted legislation for women’s welfare.
She added that initiatives such as electric bus services and the Pink Scooty Scheme for girls have been introduced for the first time by the Sindh Government, aiming to empower women and contribute to the progress of Pakistan.
More than 100 women and girls from the village of “Haji Allah Dad, Deh 87 Nusrat, Shaheed Benazirabad” and three to four surrounding villages participated in large numbers in a community dialogue and openly shared their concerns.
The participants highlighted that there was only one Primary school in their area despite a large number of young girls residing in the area. They suggested establishing vocational centers in the village for imparting technical skills to girls and women
They appreciated the Pink Scooty, EV and Peoples’ Bus Services and other welfare schemes introduced by the Sindh Government and demanded that similar facilities be extended to their villages.
Local community members also spoke about the government’s housing scheme, calling it a commendable initiative that enabled reconstruction of homes after the floods. However, they noted that some houses are still pending and appealed for their completion.
