MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) Pakistan Chemists and Druggists Association President Muhammad Akhtar Butt expressed

concerns over the recent increase in medicine prices across the country, saying it has created

difficulties for the public.

In a statement, he remarked the rising cost of life-saving and routine medicines has particularly impacted

patients suffering from chronic diseases. A comparison of old and new batches of medicines shows significant price increases in several essential drugs.

Butt observed that patients suffering from Diabetes, Thyroid disorders, and Respiratory diseases are the worst affected, as they rely on continuous medication.

He warned that rising prices of essential drugs such as Insulin and thyroid medicines are placing a heavy financial burden on patients, forcing some to discontinue treatment.

He said price variations between different batches highlight weaknesses in the pricing and monitoring system, calling for immediate corrective measures.

The association urged the government and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan to take urgent notice, control medicine prices, and provide relief to the public.

He added that the association will pursue all legal and constitutional avenues to protect public rights and will raise its voice through its platform.
