QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Monday, reviewed progress on development projects, transparency in the tendering process, and measures to provide employment opportunities to youth through filling vacant posts.

The Chief Secretary presided over the monthly meeting of the Secretaries’ Committee, attended by Chairman CMIT Muhammad Ali Kakar, SMBR Kambar Dashti, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Zahid Saleem, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, secretaries of all departments, commissioners, and other senior officials.

He directed departments to prepare lists of unusable government vehicles and ensure their disposal through transparent auctions in line with national laws and regulations.

Officials informed the meeting that the auction process of 300 vehicles is currently underway.

Addressing the participants, the Chief Secretary emphasized improving the performance of the provincial administration, ensuring efficient use of public resources, and promoting transparency. He stressed that the proper and accountable utilization of public funds is a core responsibility of the government.

The Chief Secretary instructed departments to guarantee transparency in tendering, reject single-bid tenders, and encourage open competition to maintain fairness.

Highlighting employment generation, he urged immediate recruitment against vacant posts, stressing that appointments must be made transparently on merit and prioritized district-wise, particularly in health, education, and planning departments, to improve basic services and provide jobs to local youth.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects across the province. It was noted that in the fiscal year 2026–27, a total of 5,618 development schemes are included, comprising 3,761 ongoing and 1,857 new projects.

The Chief Secretary directed departments to strictly adhere to project timelines, promptly identify and resolve obstacles, and ensure timely delivery of public benefits. He warned that delays undermine public trust and increase costs, underscoring the need for effective monitoring and regular reporting.

He added that efficient budget management is essential to ensure timely completion of projects and prevent wastage of valuable resources.
