China calls for early removal of unilateral sanctions on Iran

BEIJING, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) China on Wednesday called for the early removal of unilateral sanctions on Iran and urged the United States and Iran to implement their signed memorandum of understanding to advance negotiations toward a comprehensive political settlement.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China has consistently maintained that unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran should be lifted as soon as possible.

“China always believes that the unilateral sanctions on Iran should be removed at an early date,” Guo said.

He expressed hope that Washington and Tehran would jointly implement the memorandum of understanding already signed and continue negotiations in a constructive manner.

“We hope the U.S. and Iran will jointly implement the memorandum of understanding, which has already been signed, and move the negotiations forward to promote a comprehensive political solution of the Iran situation at an early date,” the spokesperson said.

China has repeatedly emphasized dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to resolving the Iran issue and has called on all parties to maintain the momentum of negotiations and contribute to regional peace and stability.
