Chiniot authorities tighten grip on price hikes, warn against negligence

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) A crucial, high-level, and decisive meeting of the District price Control Committee was held at the DC Office under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner General Wasiq Abbas Harl. Moreover, the session was attended by Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Rasool and Price Control Magistrates from across the district, focusing on ensuring strict market regulation.

Meanwhile, the performance of Price Control Magistrates was thoroughly reviewed, and officers showing weak performance were firmly directed to improve their duties. However, the chair emphasized that all magistrates must regularly visit markets and bazaars to monitor the availability and official pricing of essential commodities.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner clearly instructed officials to take strict, immediate, and effective action against shopkeepers violating government rate lists. Furthermore, he stressed that overcharging and profiteering would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Therefore, he reiterated that providing relief to the public is a Primary and collective responsibility. Any negligence in controlling prices will be dealt with seriously, warning that no leniency will be shown to those failing in their duties.
