Chiniot Deputy Commissioner launches monsoon tree plantation drive

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan on Wednesday inaugurated the district's monsoon tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in the green belt along Faisalabad Road, reaffirming the administration's commitment to environmental protection and climate resilience. Regional Forest Officer, National Highways representatives and other officials attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Rizwan said tree plantation was essential for protecting the environment, mitigating the effects of climate change and promoting a greener and healthier ecosystem. She directed the relevant departments to achieve the targets set under the monsoon plantation campaign within the stipulated timeframe.

The deputy commissioner also instructed officials to ensure the proper care and protection of newly planted saplings so that they grow into mature trees, stressing that plantation efforts would only be successful if accompanied by effective maintenance.

She appealed to the public to actively participate in the plantation drive by planting and protecting trees in their surroundings, saying collective efforts were vital to providing future generations with a clean, green and healthy environment.
