Chiniot Peace Committee pledges full support for peaceful Muharram; administration finalizes comprehensive arrangements

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jun, 2026) The District Peace Committee has assured complete cooperation with the administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram, as an important meeting was held on Wednesday under the joint chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan and District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif.

The meeting was attended by members of the District Peace Committee, prominent religious scholars representing various schools of thought, and officials from law enforcement agencies. Participants were briefed on the overall law and order situation, security arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings, traffic management plans, sanitation measures, uninterrupted electricity supply, rescue and medical services, and other administrative preparations.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan said all concerned departments had been directed to work in close coordination to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of Muharram activities. She stated that special attention would be given to cleanliness, street lighting, drainage, provision of safe drinking water, and other essential civic facilities along the routes of processions and at congregation venues.

She reaffirmed that the district administration was fully mobilized to safeguard the lives and property of citizens during the holy month.

Briefing participants on security measures, DPO Dr. Naveed Atif said a comprehensive district-wide security plan had been finalized, with additional police personnel to be deployed at sensitive locations. He added that modern monitoring systems would be utilized to ensure effective surveillance of processions and gatherings, while strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt peace and public order. Religious scholars and Peace Committee members reiterated their commitment to promoting sectarian harmony, brotherhood, unity, and religious tolerance during Muharram-ul-Haram, assuring full cooperation with the district administration and police. The meeting concluded with special prayers for the peace, stability, and security of Pakistan.
