Chiniot police foil narcotics smuggling bid, 2 arrested

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) Chiniot police thwarted an attempt to smuggle over 34 maunds of poppy husk, arresting two traffickers in Chak No. 149 JB.

According to APP correspondent, acting on a tip-off, Kot Wasawa Police conducted a raid on Saturday, recovering the narcotics.

The operation is part of a special crackdown campaign against drug dealers, intensified under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision for a “Drug-Free Punjab”.

DPO Dr. Naveed Atif directed the police action.

DSP City Muhammad Shoaib Khan stated a case is registered under the Narcotics Act, with further investigation underway.

The police are working to secure strict punishments for culprits.The campaign against drug dealers continues across Chiniot, focusing on quality investigation and effective action.

The police urge public cooperation to eradicate the menace.
