Chiniot Police tighten Muharram security, DPO reviews arrangements for procession

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) Chiniot police have finalized comprehensive security arrangements for Muharram processions in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure peace and public safety across the district.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif on Saturday visited a key Muharram procession in the jurisdiction of Chenab Nagar Police Station to review security measures and meet with procession organizers. During the visit, he inspected sensitive locations, internal and external routes, and rooftop deployment points, directing officers to remain vigilant throughout the event.

The DPO also reviewed arrangements for personnel deployed along the procession route, where food and drinking water were provided to officers performing security duties to ensure their operational readiness during the observance.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Naveed Atif said the district police would utilize all available resources to maintain law and order during Muharram, emphasizing that comprehensive security measures had been put in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of all religious gatherings and processions.
