CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) On the directives of District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif, traffic police have launched an extensive crackdown under the supervision of DSP Traffic Khurram Shahzad to curb violations and prevent road accidents across the district.
According to official figures, during March, fines exceeding Rs 15.5 million were imposed on 5,589 vehicles for various traffic violations. Action was taken against 2,870 motorcyclists for riding without helmets and 100 underage drivers, while 1,443 challans were issued for driving without a valid license.
Police also penalized violations including one-way traffic breaches, unregistered vehicles, and use of non-standard number plates, along with other infractions.
Additionally, cases were registered against 40 drivers for negligent driving during the same period.
DPO Dr. Naveed Atif said that alongside enforcement, awareness campaigns are being conducted to promote road safety. The Traffic education Unit is visiting educational institutions to educate students on traffic rules, while a special campaign has also been launched to facilitate citizens in obtaining driving licenses and encourage lawful driving practices.
