CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) Traffic police in Chiniot have stepped up operations to prevent road accidents under the directives of District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif. The campaign, supervised by DSP Traffic Khurram Shahzad, includes strict enforcement of traffic laws alongside public awareness measures.
Official figures show that during April, fines exceeding Rs7.724 million were imposed on 3,101 vehicles for various violations. Action was taken against 1,463 motorcyclists for not wearing helmets and 40 underage drivers, while 665 challans were issued for driving without a valid license.
Police also penalized 436 vehicles for one-way violations, 31 for operating without registration, and 186 drivers for using mobile phones while driving.
Additionally, cases were registered against 41 drivers for negligent driving during March, reflecting continued efforts to enforce discipline on roads.
DPO Naveed Atif said practical steps were being taken to ensure safe travel, combining enforcement with education. He noted that the Traffic Education Unit is visiting schools and colleges to raise awareness about road safety, while a special campaign is underway to facilitate issuance of driving licenses, urging citizens to comply with traffic laws to help prevent accidents.
