Chohang: Acid attack on ninth grade student, main accused killed

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) A tragic acid attack on a ninth-grade student occurred in the Chohang area of Lahore, leaving the girl seriously injured.

According to police, the student was returning home from the academy when unknown assailants suddenly threw acid on her and fled the scene. The attack caused burns to her face, head and shoulders.

Initial investigations suggest the incident was linked to resentment over the girl’s engagement. A case was registered at Chohang police station on the complaint of the student’s father.

In a separate incident in Green Town, police signaled suspicious motorcyclists to stop, but the accused opened fire indiscriminately, hitting a police vehicle as well.

Police pursued the suspects, and one accused, identified as Sajid, was arrested in an injured condition. He was reportedly hit by firing from his own accomplice. The injured accused was shifted to Jinnah hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.

The second accused managed to escape, and police were conducting raids to apprehend him.
