LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) The city recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 61, placing it within the “moderate” category, which indicates that air quality was acceptable but could still pose minor health concerns for sensitive individuals.

Despite remaining below hazardous thresholds, the air was not entirely free from pollution-related risks, particularly for people with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.

At the same time, the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was measured at 2.8 times higher than the annual guideline value recommended by the World Health Organization.

This elevated level of PM2.5 is a cause for concern, as these microscopic particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream, potentially leading to long-term health complications.

The data highlights that even when overall AQI levels appear moderate, underlying pollutant concentrations—especially PM2.5—can remain significantly above safe limits, underscoring the need for continued monitoring and effective air quality management measures.
