CJP condemns Mastung attack, postpones Judicial Wellbeing Conference

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his security guard, who were killed in a terrorist attack while performing their official duties in Mastung.

In a statement issued on behalf of Pakistan's judiciary, the Chief Justice extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, saying the entire judiciary stood with them in this irreparable loss. He prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and for patience and fortitude for their families.

The Chief Justice also prayed for the speedy recovery of Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Lashari and a Judicial Magistrate, who were injured in the attack.

As a mark of respect for the martyrs and in solidarity with the district judiciary of Balochistan, the Judicial Wellbeing Conference scheduled to be held on July 25, 2026, has been postponed.

Reaffirming the judiciary's commitment to the rule of law, the Chief Justice said Pakistan's judiciary would continue to dispense justice without fear or intimidation. He said incidents of violence and terrorism could not shake the judiciary's resolve to uphold the rule of law and stressed that the judiciary remained steadfast in safeguarding the supremacy of justice and the independence of the judiciary under all circumstances.
