CJP warns of renewed protests for detained demonstrators in India

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka says party had anticipated that students could face fresh arrests after the protests concluded

NEW DELHI: (UrduPoint /UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 28th, 2026) India’s youth-led Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has warned it will resume protests if demonstrators arrested during recent anti-government rallies are not released and legal cases against them are not withdrawn.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the party had anticipated that students could face fresh arrests after the protests concluded.

The warning comes amid heightened political tensions following the recent protests, with the CJP insisting it will continue its campaign unless its demands are met.

He urged the government to honour its commitments by releasing detained protesters across different states, withdrawing First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against them and ensuring that no new cases are registered.

“If those arrested are not released by tomorrow, the FIRs are not withdrawn and the government’s assurances are not implemented, we will have no option but to launch another round of protests,” Ranka said.

He added that the party remained concerned about the possibility of further action against student protesters despite the end of the demonstrations.
