Clean Punjab drive, public safety measures reviewed

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza chaired a meeting to review the performance

of various administrative and service delivery departments across the district.

The meeting conducted a comprehensive assessment of key areas, including progress on revenue cases, price control measures, inspection of petrol pumps, identification and repair of open manholes, the ongoing campaign against stray dogs, actions against the illegal sale of smuggled cigarettes, and sanitation arrangements under the “Clean Punjab" (Suthra Punjab) program.

The deputy commissioner directed that revenue cases be resolved on a priority basis, with special emphasis on the early disposal of pending matters. Reviewing the performance of price control magistrates, he stressed that essential commodities must be made available at officially notified rates, and strict, indiscriminate action should be taken against profiteers.

He also emphasized the need for regular inspections of petrol pumps to ensure accurate measurements and compliance with official pricing. Highlighting public safety concerns, he ordered the immediate covering of open manholes to prevent accidents.

Regarding the Clean Punjab campaign, Syed Hassan Raza instructed officials to further improve sanitation arrangements, ensure an efficient waste collection system, and address public complaints promptly.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners (Revenue and General), Assistant Commissioners, Chief Officers of Municipal Committees, CEO Bahawalpur Waste Management Company, Managing Director WASA, Director Livestock, Deputy Directors, and other relevant officials.
