of clean water in the province.
A review meeting of the Punjab Clean Water Authority (PCWA) was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin, in which a detailed review of the progress on the ongoing projects was taken. CEO Clean Water Syed Ali Asghar and DG Projects Mazhar Khan gave a briefing in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the pace of construction of new filtration plants, while the relevant officers were also reprimanded for laxity in achieving the targets.
It was informed in the briefing that a project to purify the water of small dams in the North Zone and supply it to nearby villages through pipelines is also under completion, which will directly benefit the rural population.
Bilal Yasin said that the Punjab government has a vision to ensure the supply of clean and safe water to every citizen, especially those living in rural areas, and work is underway on arsenic-free and modern technology-based water projects in various cities.
He added that hundreds of inefficient filtration plants are being restored and made functional again, which will improve water quality and reduce water-borne diseases.
The provincial minister reiterated the commitment that the operation and maintenance model is being further strengthened to make the projects sustainable so that clean water can be supplied to the public on a regular basis.
