CM orders crackdown on overcharging of travelers on Eid

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered a strict crackdown on transporters charging excessive fares ahead of upcoming Eidul Fitr, directing the authorities concerned to ensure strict implementation of notified transport fares and take legal action against violators.

She instructed Deputy Commissioners to closely monitor transport operations to prevent overcharging and ticket black marketing, and directed that official fare lists be prominently displayed at all bus terminals for passenger transparency.

The chief minister also called for proper seating arrangements, availability of fans in waiting areas, Iftar arrangements for fasting passengers, and cleanliness at all bus terminals.

In addition, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered strict monitoring of markets and bazaars to prevent the movement of anti-social elements during the Eid shopping season, emphasising that poor passengers returning home for Eid must not be exploited under any circumstances. Authorities, she said, must conduct continuous field inspections to provide relief to the public.
