BUREWALA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said on Friday the Punjab government, under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is taking practical steps to safeguard the rights of minorities, preserve their places of worship, and promote religious freedom across the province.
Speaking during a visit to the historic Gurdwara Taphistan Diwan Sahib in Burewala, the minister said Punjab is the land of Sufi saints, spiritual leaders and religious harmony, where followers of different faiths live together with mutual respect, love and brotherhood.
He stressed that gurdwaras, shrines and other religious sites are part of the province's shared cultural and historical heritage, and their protection and development remain the government's responsibility.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Arora inspected various sections of the gurdwara, reviewed administrative arrangements, and met members of the Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee to discuss issues concerning the Sikh community. He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Burewala Jawad Hussain Malik, Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee member Chaudhry Sanaullah Ghuman, and others.
Later, the provincial minister visited the shrine of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Diwan Chawli Mashaikh, where he offered floral tribute and paid his respects.
The minister also called on all segments of society to play an active role in strengthening interfaith harmony, tolerance and lasting peace.
