CM’s Adviser chairs meeting on IT skills promotion

Tuesday.

During the meeting, it was decided to launch a four-month accelerated training programme to equip youth with modern technological skills and enhance employment opportunities.

The programme, to be introduced by the government of Punjab in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, will be delivered through an online learning platform, focusing on developing globally competitive skills among participants.

It was proposed to categorise trainees into three groups based on their educational background, including individuals with high school or lower education, undergraduate students and postgraduates, while emphasis was laid on incorporating advanced courses such as prompt engineering and programming languages, including Python and Java.

Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) CEO Sajjad Syed briefed that sustaining participants’ engagement remains a major challenge in training programmes, as many trainees tend to lose interest during the course, stressing the need for targeted measures to address the issue, which was endorsed by the participants.

Senator Anusha Rahman assigned the task of benchmarking the curriculum against international standards to the CEO of P@SHA, who assured full cooperation in this regard.

The meeting also agreed to involve IT companies and technology firms with practical industry experience, alongside educational institutions, to ensure effective training aligned with market demands, while the CEO of P@SHA underscored the importance of strengthening engagement between the IT export industry and relevant government departments and agencies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants expressed their commitment to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to empower youth with modern technological skills and enable them to play an active role in the digital economy.
