LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to submit weekly progress reports on the Punjab Development Programme to ensure close monitoring and timely completion of ongoing development schemes across the province.

Chairing a special video-link meeting, here on Saturday, she instructed the Local Government and Community Development Department to regularly furnish detailed updates on projects being executed in 51 cities, along with weekly progress reports on Model Village initiatives. Officials briefed the meeting that multiple development schemes are currently under way across urban centres under the department’s supervision.

The CM was further informed about the deployment of modern municipal machinery, including desilting and sectional machines, 45 jetting machines and 100 dewatering sets, aimed at improving civic service delivery.

She also directed that waste containers and garbage drums be kept clean on a permanent and sustainable basis.

It was also shared that, for the first time in Punjab, an HDPE pipeline lining plant will be established, with operations scheduled to begin from April 20, while a similar facility will be set up in South Punjab. During the meeting, a visual review of ongoing development projects across tehsils was conducted through a project gallery, supported by a live dashboard displaying financial and physical progress.

The CM noted that more development projects have been completed in the past two years than in the previous five years, adding that after the early completion of WASA-related schemes, the focus should now shift towards urban beautification initiatives across the province.
