Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the relevant authorities to ensure strict adherence to timelines, quality standards and transparency in all road construction, repair and rehabilitation projects. According to a statement, she said work under the 'CM Local Roads Programme' was progressing rapidly towards completion in various districts. The chief minister also declared compliance with lane and line discipline mandatory in all major cities. She had also approved multi-billion-rupee transport infrastructure and bus stop projects in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Multan. Work is also under way on mass transit projects in Faisalabad and Gujranwala. The CM has ordered the implementation of a modern traffic management system in Lahore and other major cities. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has made the installation of solar-powered streetlights mandatory on all newly constructed roads. She said mega projects had been launched to improve road infrastructure and modernise the transport sector across Punjab. More than 30,000 kilometres of roads have been constructed, repaired or rehabilitated throughout the province. The chief minister added that the restoration of major highways in Murree had been completed to facilitate tourists and local residents. Meanwhile, the CM paid rich tribute to parents, acknowledging their lifelong sacrifices, unconditional love, and key role in the upbringing and character-building of children. In a message on the occasion of the Global Day of Parents, the chief minister extended greetings and respect to parents worldwide, saying the day is observed to raise awareness about the rights, responsibilities, and respect associated with parenthood. She said parents are the greatest blessing in life, adding that their love, prayers, and guidance remain a lifelong source of strength for children. She noted that parents play a fundamental role in shaping the values, behaviour, and personalities of future generations.
