LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has intensified its province-wide crackdown on drug trafficking, conducting 34 intelligence-based operations over the past seven days and arresting 33 suspected drug peddlers.
According to a spokesperson, the operations resulted in the recovery of approximately 5.1 tons of narcotics, with an estimated market value of Rs. 36 million. Weapons were also recovered from the possession of the accused during the operations.
The seized narcotics include 5 tons of poppy straw, 75 kilograms of hashish, 49 kilograms of opium, 0.5 kilograms of ice, 2 kilograms of weed, and 200 grams of heroin. Additionally, law enforcement teams confiscated 10 pistols and one sub-machine gun (SMG) from the suspects.
The operations were conducted across multiple districts, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, and Gujrat, reflecting the wide scope of the crackdown.
The CNF spokesperson further highlighted that since its establishment in August 2025, the force has seized a total of 21.1 tons of narcotics, with an estimated value of Rs. 2.2 billion, demonstrating its sustained and effective operational performance.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force remains committed to eliminating narcotics from the province, ensuring a safer environment for citizens, and safeguarding the youth from this serious threat.
