Commissioner calls for zero negligence in anti-polio campaign

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia,accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza on Monday visited polio vaccination counters in various parts of the city,including Farid Gate and Rehman Colony (Model Town C) to review arrangements for the ongoing anti-polio campaign.

During the visit,the commissioner inspected the performance of polio teams,administration of vaccine drops to children, record-keeping procedures and awareness efforts targeting parents.

He directed officials to ensure that no negligence or lapse was tolerated during the campaign and stressed that every eligible child must be reached without exception.

Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia said that polio was a crippling disease and its eradication requires not only government efforts but also active cooperation from parents.

He urged families to ensure that all children under the age of five receive polio drops to protect them from lifelong disability.

He said health teams would conduct door-to-door visits to administer vaccines,adding that citizens must fully cooperate with field staff to achieve the national goal of a polio-free Pakistan.

The commissioner directed all relevant departments to demonstrate full dedication and ensure 100 per cent coverage, instructing field officers to maintain continuous monitoring so that no child or area is left uncovered.

He noted that the anti-polio campaign will continue from April 13 to April 16,during which children under five across the district will be administered polio drops.

Assistant Commissioner(AC) Bahawalpur City Khalil Ahmed,CEO Health Dr Zeeshan Rauf and other officials were also present on the occasion.
