QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) A high-level meeting on the Quetta Master Plan was held under the chairmanship of Shahzaib Khan Kakar, Commissioner Quetta Division, to deliberate on the city’s future development, expansion, and resolution of key urban challenges.

The meeting was attended by Mehrullah Badini (Deputy Commissioner Quetta), Zahoor Ahmed (Divisional Director Development), Abid Ali (Deputy Project Director Quetta Development Package), representatives of the consultant firm, and officials from the Quetta Development Authority (QDA).

The consultant firm presented a detailed briefing covering short-, medium-, and long-term planning strategies, land survey reports, digital mapping systems, and findings from field surveys. Key focus areas included urban boundary demarcation, land utilization, and improvements to road infrastructure, sewerage, and drainage systems.

Commissioner Shahzaib Khan Kakar directed the consultant firm to complete all necessary measures promptly and submit a comprehensive report to ensure timely implementation.

He stressed that urban planning must account for future requirements, involve all stakeholders, and ensure public awareness and participation.

He emphasized the need to shift commercial and industrial activities outside the central city to reduce congestion, while prioritizing sustainable solutions to water scarcity and land-use management. Short-term projects were directed to be finalized for immediate implementation, while medium- and long-term plans should align with future needs and available resources.

The Commissioner also proposed establishing alternative centers outside the city to ease pressure on Quetta’s core urban area. He reaffirmed his commitment to developing Quetta along modern lines, ensuring improved civic amenities, organized urban expansion, and enhanced economic activity.

“This master plan will not only address Quetta’s current requirements but also help manage future population growth and urban pressures effectively,” he said.
