Commissioner, DC inspect bus terminals, order improved passenger facilities

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner

Syed Hassan Raza, visited the General Bus Stand and AC Bus Stand to review arrangements

aimed at improving travel facilities for passengers and ensuring better public service delivery.

The inspection was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Shagufta

Jabeen, Assistant Commissioner Bahawalpur City Iqra Mubeen, and Chief Officer of the

Municipal Corporation Mian Muhammad Asif.

During the visit, the Commissioner inspected sanitation and cleanliness arrangements at the

General Bus Stand and directed the authorities concerned to maintain a clean, safe, and

comfortable environment for passengers. He emphasized that there should be no compromise

on hygiene standards at public transport terminals.

Commissioner Kathia also issued a stern warning against overcharging by transport operators,

stating that the district administration would adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards fare violations.

He directed the officials concerned to strictly monitor transport fares and ensure that passengers

were not subjected to unauthorized or excessive charges.

He warned that legal action would be

taken against transporters found violating officially notified fare structures.

The Commissioner reviewed passenger amenities available at both bus terminals, including

directional signboards, waiting areas, and shaded shelters for passengers and buses. He directed

the departments concerned to further upgrade these facilities to enhance convenience and comfort

for commuters. Security arrangements at the General Bus Stand also came under review during the visit.

Commissioner Kathia directed officials to strengthen security measures to provide passengers

with a safe and peaceful travel environment.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said that providing citizens with quality transport facilities,

a clean environment, and adequate security remains one of the district administration's top priorities.

He urged all relevant departments to perform their responsibilities diligently and work collectively

to improve public services at transport terminals across the district.
