Commissioner directs timely completion of Rawalpindi Ring Road project

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Amir Khattak on Wednesday visited the Rawalpindi Ring Road project and reviewed the ongoing construction work in detail.

The visit started from Thalian Interchange where project officials including the deputy project director, assistant commissioner and FWO reps, briefed him on the progress, officials said.

The commissioner inspected the pace and quality of construction work and directed that the project be completed by

May 30 without compromising on quality.

He said the Ring Road project would play a key role in resolving Rawalpindi’s traffic issues and significantly improving travel facilities for citizens.

Amir Khattak instructed continuous monitoring of work and removal of any obstacles to ensure timely completion of

the project.

During the briefing, it was informed that overall progress of the project has reached 85 percent.

He was further informed that logistics and education centres, health city, dry port, business centres, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, recreational parks and residential communities are being considered along

both sides of the Ring Road under proposed development plans.

The commissioner said the project would serve as a major driver of regional economic growth, creating employment opportunities and improving public facilities.

He added that development of special economic zones along the corridor would promote modern urban planning

and help address issues such as urban sprawl and encroachments.
