QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) On directive of the High Court of Balochistan, Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Khan Kakar on Thursday chaired a meeting regarding permanent solutions to shops, traffic flow, encroachments and other civic issues on Joint Road.
The meeting was attended by Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Zahid Khan, Assistant Commissioner City Amir Hamza, Pakistan Railways, District Administration, Traffic Police, officers of relevant departments and senior lawyers.
During the meeting, various issues faced on Joint Road were reviewed in detail and several important decisions were taken for their permanent solution.
On this occasion, it was decided that a special team would be formed to review the basic needs and problems of the residents of Railway Society.
The team will conduct a detailed survey of shops, business activities, parking, traffic conditions and other issues on the Joint Road and submit its report.
The meeting directed the Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Metropolitan Corporation and Traffic Police to take joint action to eliminate encroachments and illegal carts.
The meeting also decided to conduct a comprehensive survey to determine the complete number of shops on the Joint Road and their legal status.
This survey will be completed with the help of the Metropolitan Corporation, Tehsil Administration, Pakistan Railways and modern GPS technology so that a comparative review of official records and ground realities can be done.
It was emphasized in the meeting that in the light of the survey and reports of relevant institutions, a future action plan will be formulated in accordance with the orders of the High Court of Balochistan so that a permanent and effective solution to the problems arising on the Joint Road can be ensured.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Shahzeb Khan Kakar said that strict implementation of the orders of the High Court of Balochistan regarding the Joint Road issue would be ensured. He also directed the construction of bathrooms for the shops established on Joint Road in view of public convenience.
He clarified that Joint Road has already been declared a no-cart zone, so no kind of cart or illegal business activity would be allowed on the road. It was also decided in the meeting that action will also be taken against those providing services in vehicles in front of hotels as this creates traffic jams and rush.
The Commissioner said that commercial activities are not allowed on the road in the expansion projects under the Quetta Development Package and a ban has also been imposed by the Deputy Commissioner Quetta in this regard.
He said that there are reservations of various parties regarding the conversion of residential lands into commercial areas, therefore, a workable and balanced approach would be adopted to resolve this issue that satisfies all the concerned parties.
The participants of the meeting expressed their determination that all the concerned institutions would take practical steps to resolve the problems of the joint road, improve traffic flow and provide civic amenities through mutual cooperation.
