ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Hazara, Fayyaz Ali Shah, chaired a meeting of the Divisional Task Force on Polio Eradication, attended by all Deputy Commissioners and District Health Officers, to review the performance of the ongoing campaign and address gaps in low-performing union councils.
During the meeting, the Commissioner directed that teams deployed in underperforming areas be replaced immediately and additional training sessions be conducted to improve efficiency. He stressed that special attention must be given to such union councils to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.
Emphasizing the importance of transit vaccination, he instructed authorities to ensure effective deployment of staff at all transit points so that children on the move are also administered polio drops. He noted that achieving complete coverage is essential for the success of the campaign.
The meeting also reviewed factors behind low performance highlighted by the World Health Organization. The Commissioner directed District Health Officers to ensure immediate resolution of identified issues and take prompt action based on monitoring teams’ findings.
He warned that strict action would be taken against Union Council Medical Officers if performance would not improve in the concerned areas.
Appealing to parents, the Commissioner urged them to cooperate fully with polio teams and ensure timely vaccination of their children, terming it essential for eradicating the disease.
He reiterated that complete elimination of polio remains a top government priority and that all necessary steps would be taken to safeguard future generations.
