A meeting of the Divisional Task Force (Polio) was held on Wednesday at Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad, under the chairmanship of Commissioner Hyderabad Division Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, in connection with the anti-polio campaign starting from 13th April and will continue till April 19, 2026

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) A meeting of the Divisional Task Force (Polio) was held on Wednesday at Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad, under the chairmanship of Commissioner Hyderabad Division Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, in connection with the anti-polio campaign starting from 13th April and will continue till April 19, 2026.

The meeting was attended by DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razak Dharejo, EOC (Emergency Operation Center) Sindh Coordinator Shahryar Memon, all Deputy Commissioners of the division, SSPs, District Health Officers and other concerned officers.

In the meeting, district officers of Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Matiari, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan gave a briefing on their preparations and planning for the polio campaign.

The meeting was informed that this year, the first case of polio in the country was reported from Sujawal district of Hyderabad division, due to which it is imperative to run the campaign with extraordinary seriousness and an effective strategy this time.

On this occasion, Commissioner Hyderabad Division Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi directed that all deputy commissioners should fully inform the field staff in their respective districts about the polio case that came to light in Sujawal in the morning assemblies so that they realize that despite the strenuous efforts at the national level, if there is a slight negligence at any level, the consequences can be serious.

He said that the union councils should be reorganized so that no area or population is left out of the campaign. He stressed that complete coverage of all residential areas should be ensured and now the main focus should be on administering polio drops to children correctly, the commissioner said.

The concerned officers are well aware of the ground realities, so they should take effective decisions according to the local situation and achieve the desired goals. He expressed hope that this time a high-quality polio campaign will be conducted. DIG Tariq Razak Dharejo, while addressing the meeting, said that the first case of polio has come to light from Hyderabad division this year, so this time we have to work with more attention and responsibility than before.

He said that there were some minor shortcomings in the previous campaign, which must be eliminated this time. He said that we have to work with great seriousness, regularity and 100 percent attention because the polio campaign is not the responsibility of any one department but a common national responsibility of all of us.

EOC Sindh Coordinator Shehryar Memon said that polio workers should ensure that two drops of polio are administered to children correctly and that they must touch the child's tongue. He said that in view of the rising prices of petrol, the remuneration of polio workers is being increased. He also emphasized that environmental samples

It is important to maintain negative results for poliovirus in environmental samples.

He said that if too much attention is paid to one area, other areas are neglected, which affects the overall results of the campaign; therefore, equal monitoring and attention are necessary in all areas.
