BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia on Tuesday inaugurated
an open-air e-library at Ladies Park, Saraiki Chowk, aimed at promoting reading
and educational activities among citizens.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur
Syed Hassan Raza, along with the Assistant Commissioner and Assistant
Director of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Muhammad Masroor.
The Commissioner officially opened the facility by cutting the ribbon and stated
that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif,
efforts were being made to provide improved facilities for women and children.
He highlighted that the Punjab government was actively promoting educational
and co-curricular activities and that the newly established e-library would offer
excellent opportunities for reading and intellectual engagement, particularly
for women and children.
Irfan Ali Kathia further noted that Ladies Park at Saraiki Chowk had been
developed as a safe and peaceful environment for families. Special arrangements
had been made for seating, along with a strong focus on cleanliness and maintenance.
He emphasized that such initiatives were crucial for fostering a reading culture
among the younger generation and encouraging positive, knowledge-based activities.
The Commissioner directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper and continuous
maintenance of both the park and the e-library so that citizens could fully benefit
from the facility.
On the occasion, he planted a tree, symbolizing the commitment to environmental
sustainability and community development.
