Commissioner Karachi directs DCs to continue campaign against road side encroachments

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Thursday directed all deputy commissioners to continue campaign against roadside encroachments, illegal LPG sales, and profiteering.

On the directives of the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners have initiated operations against roadside encroachments, illegal sale of LPG gas cylinders, and profiteers.

The DCs are personally supervising the campaign conducted by the assistant commissioners who are actively in the field with relevant agencies.

Deputy Commissioners have submitted their reports on the actions being carried out against roadside encroachments, profiteering, and unsafe LPG gas sales.

Commissioner Naqvi has taken notice of increasing encroachments in Lyari River and directed Deputy Commissioners to remove them on a priority basis.

Deputy Commissioner East Nasrullah Abbasi has started action to remove encroachments in Lyari River bed. He has reported to the commissioner that Assistant Commissioner Gulzar Hajri Abdul Hafeez Soomro has been assigned to aggressively take action against encroachment.

According to the DC's report, the number of enclosures has been removed and left over will be completed as soon as possible.

Deputy Commissioner Malir Samiullah Sheikh said that the concerned field officers are in the field to address the citizen complaints, including profiteering and illegal LPG sales.

As per the report, Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Hyderi Ameer Ali has imposed fines on 3 shops and warned 13 others.

Deputy Commissioner Malir Samiullah Sheikh reported that efforts are underway to address citizen complaints, including encroachments, profiteering, and Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Hyderi Ameer Ali checked prices at 31 locations, imposing fines of Rs15,000 on three shops for violating official rates. 13 shopkeepers were warned, while others complied with official rates.

In the Malir district, daily actions are being taken against illegal LPG sales. Assistant Commissioner Murad Memon Anees Ahmed sealed two shops, including Mashallah Arsh LPG Shop and Memon LPG Memon Goth, for SOP violations on Thursday, while previously, four other shops were also sealed for illegal LPG sales.

Deputy Commissioner Korangi Masood Bhutto reported that Assistant Commissioner Landhi Aun Abbas, along with Mukhtarkar Sohrab Ali, took strict action against encroachments in Bilal Colony, removing a large number of roadside encroachments.

As per details, Assistant Commissioner Model Colony Nad Ali removed encroachments from Malir Halt to Malir 15, including kalla board, with the help of the town administration and police.
