Commissioner orders completion of mega Sewerage Project Phase I by May 30

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Monday directed authorities to ensure completion of Phase I of the Rs.14 billion sewerage project by May 30,stressing the need to provide maximum relief to citizens ahead of the monsoon season.

The directives were issued during a surprise inspection of ongoing development works being carried out by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) under a special grant from the Punjab government.

He emphasized that all ongoing schemes must be expedited and completed before the onset of rains to minimize urban flooding and related hardships for residents.

During the visit,the commissioner reviewed upgradation work at the Sillanwali Road disposal station.

Managing Director WASA Rana Abu Bakar briefed him that smaller disposal stations across the city were being phased out and replaced with a more efficient centralized drainage system to improve water disposal during heavy rainfall.

The commissioner also inspected construction of an underground water storage tank at Company Bagh,along with a drainage channel being developed along Fatima Jinnah Road.

Officials said the storage tank was nearing completion, while work on the adjoining infrastructure was progressing at a fast pace.

The commissioner directed authorities to further accelerate the pace of work without compromising on quality,reiterating that ensuring a fully functional drainage system before the monsoon remained a top priority.

The Director Development was also present during the inspection.
