Commissioner orders for establishment of Book Reading Club

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Mar, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has ordered for establishment of a Book Reading Club at the E-library set up in D-Ground Park to promote a reading culture among the students and citizens.

During visit to the E-library on Sunday, he interacted with students who were busy in reading books. He encouraged them to actively participate in the proposed book reading club so that the trend of book reading could be strengthened in the city.

He said that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, the divisional administration had launched an initiative to promote book-friendly and recreational environments in public parks.

He said that state-of-the-art public library established in D-Ground Park was a major step in this direction as it was attracting a large number of students and book lovers.

He said that a similar library had earlier been established at Jinnah Garden where a significant number of visitors were turning up daily for reading and research activities.

Establishment of book reading clubs in such libraries would further encourage students and young people to adopt the habit of reading, he added.

During visit, the divisional commissioner also inspected different sections of the E-library and emphasized the need to set up similar libraries in other parks of the city to provide more opportunities for students and book lovers.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir informed the divisional commissioner that both digital and manual learning facilities had been provided at the E-library.

He said that internet, iPads and computers were also available at the library to facilitate research and study.

He said that establishment of e-libraries would also help attract young people towards positive and constructive activities.

Book lovers present at the site appreciated the initiative of district administration and expressed hope that such facilities would further promote a culture of reading in the city.

Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner (AC) City Adil Umar, Managing Director (MD) Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) Dilawar Khan, Director Development Asif Chauhan and Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Murtaza Malik were also present on the occasion.
