Commissioner orders strict enforcement of transport fare rates ahead of Eid

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan has directed all deputy commissioners to ensure strict implementation of notified transport fares ahead of Eid, warning that no operator would be allowed to overcharge passengers.

Chairing a divisional meeting on transport fare regulation, here on Wednesday, the commissioner ordered the establishment of administrative counters at bus terminals to facilitate passengers and monitor fares. She also directed the formation of dedicated teams to conduct strict checking and monitoring at bus stands and terminals across the division.

Commissioner Marryam Khan said that notified fare lists, revised in light of recent increase in fuel prices, must be prominently displayed at all bus terminals to ensure transparency.

She stressed that any violation of the notified rates would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against overcharging.

The commissioner further instructed that price control magistrates remain fully active in the days leading up to Eid, maintaining zero tolerance against profiteering.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Ali Ejaz, Deputy Commissioner Nankana Sahib Rao Tasleem Akhtar, Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth, Deputy Commissioner Kasur Asif Raza and Additional Commissioner Coordination Wajeeha Samreen attended the meeting.
