FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen paid glowing tribute to workers on International Labor Day, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to safeguarding labor rights and accelerating concrete measures for the welfare and uplift of the working class across the division.
In her message on Friday, she said that the labor force was backbone of economic growth and national prosperity. She said that the spirit, dedication and resilience of workers laid the foundation for sustainable development. “Workers are the driving force behind progress, and their dignity and rights must be protected at all costs”, she added.
Highlighting the moral and social dimensions of labor, the divisional commissioner said that islam accorded great respect to lawful earning through hard work and instilled a deep sense of honor for the working class. She said that recognizing the dignity of labor was not only a religious principle but also a prerequisite for building a just and equitable society.
She said that divisional administration was fully committed to improve the quality of life of workers besides ensuring their socioeconomic well-being. She said that practical and result-oriented steps were being implemented across all four districts of the division to address labor-related issues in a systematic manner.
She informed that District Vigilance Committees were meeting regularly to review complaints and ensure timely resolution of workers’ problems.
Special focus was being placed on strict enforcement of minimum wage laws and expansion of social protection mechanisms for laborers, she added.
The divisional commissioner said that relevant departments had been mobilized to ensure the issuance of social security cards to eligible workers, enabling them to access healthcare and other essential benefits. “Efforts are underway to extend medical facilities to workers’ families and ensure that their children are enrolled in schools so that the next generation can have better opportunities”, she added.
She said that the administration would not tolerate any negligence in protecting the rights of workers employed in factories, mills and other industrial units. Strict action would be taken against violations of labor laws, she added.
Madam Musarrat Jabeen reiterated that International Labor Day served as a reminder of the invaluable contributions of the labor community and the need to strengthen institutional mechanisms for their protection. She stressed that ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions and access to basic services was essential for inclusive growth and social stability.
She said that the government was committed to continue working for the welfare, dignity and empowerment of workers. A prosperous society could only be built by recognizing and rewarding the contributions of its labor force, she added.
