Commissioner Rawalpindi reviews rescue and rehabilitation work after Murree Landslide

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak, visited the landslide-hit area of Jhika Gali to review ongoing relief and rehabilitation work following recent heavy rains in Murree.

Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Umar Awais Kiayni, Superintendent Engineer Ashfaq Salheri, Assistant Commissioner Murree Arshad Iqbal, and other relevant officials were also present during the visit.

The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the impact of the landslide and inspect rescue and recovery measures.

The Deputy Commissioner Murree briefed the Commissioner Rawalpindi, the scale of damage caused by the landslide, ongoing rescue operations, road restoration work, and assistance being provided to affected residents.

Officials informed that the district administration is actively working to restore affected routes and address difficulties faced by the public.

The Commissioner directed all concerned departments to expedite rescue and rehabilitation work and ensure public safety.

He also stressed the need for an effective strategy to deal with potential future landslide risks, adding that the government will utilize all available resources for the rehabilitation of affected areas.
