Commissioner reviews progress of Highways development projects across division

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Sargodha Division, Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Thursday presided over a meeting to review the progress of ongoing and new development projects being executed by the Highways Department across the division.

According to the spokesperson for the Commissioner's office here, the meeting was attended by the Director Development, Superintending Engineer Highways, Deputy Directors Development, and Executive Engineers (XENs) from Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Bhakkar districts.

During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that work is currently underway on 192 development schemes across the division with a cumulative cost exceeding Rs91.48 billion, while 30 schemes have already been completed.

The meeting was further apprised that significant progress is being made on 12 ongoing Annual Development Programme (ADP) schemes. Several projects under the Roads Rehabilitation and Roads Restoration Programme are also nearing completion.

Officials stated that 37 new schemes have been proposed under the ADP, while 93 projects fall under the Special Block Programme (SBP) and three under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner directed the authorities concerned to ensure timely release and effective utilization of funds so that all projects could be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

In line with directives issued by the Chief Secretary Punjab, the Commissioner also sought details regarding the construction of two major roads in the urban areas of each of the four districts of the division.

He emphasized that no compromise would be made on the quality of development works, adding that provision of improved road infrastructure and better travel facilities to the public remains the government’s top priority.
