Commissioner reviews progress of Ichhra Bazaar beautification project

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan visited Ichhra Bazaar and reviewed the ongoing

beautification and up-gradation work being carried out under the special directions of Chief Minister

Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, here on Tuesday.

During the visit, the Commissioner inspected various ongoing development works and he was briefed

by Chief Engineer LDA, Director Architecture, and the Project Director regarding the pace and scope

of the project.

The briefing highlighted that facade up-gradation of shops and plazas, underground shifting of electrical

wiring, and uniform development works were in progress across the market. Durable interlocking tiles

and pavers were being laid, while construction of separate, clean and modern public washrooms for

women was also underway.

Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan said that Ichhra Bazaar was nearing completion and was expected

to be finalized within the current month as per the set timeline. She said that sewerage, beautification,

and tiling works were in the final stages, while encroachments had been completely removed to ensure

smooth pedestrian movement. She said the entrance of the bazaar had been redesigned to improve

its aesthetic appeal and visibility, while shop facades and internal walkways had been developed in

a uniform and modern style.

She added that Ichhra Bazaar was being developed as a model market to facilitate women and families

with a safe, clean and comfortable shopping environment. The completion of the project would enhance

the beauty of Lahore and promote commercial activity in the area, she added.
