LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan on Tuesday visited various parts of the city to review drainage arrangements amid heavy rainfall and issued necessary directions to relevant departments to ensure prompt water disposal operations.

During her visit to Ferozepur Road and Qurtaba Chowk, the Commissioner inspected ongoing drainage operations and was briefed on-site by WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed regarding the overall situation and operational readiness.

She said that rainfall was being recorded at 16 different locations across Lahore and emphasized that all available machinery of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) must remain fully functional, while backup systems at disposal stations should also be kept on active standby to deal with any emergency situation.

The Commissioner directed that emergency response teams remain fully prepared to ensure immediate action in case of further rainfall, particularly in low-lying areas and locations connected to main roads where water accumulation is more likely.

She further instructed WASA, Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), and Central business District (CBD) teams to remain active in their respective jurisdictions. She stressed that dewatering machinery must remain operational at underpasses and all disposal stations should function at full capacity.

Commissioner Marryam Khan also directed Assistant Commissioners to closely monitor drainage arrangements within their respective tehsils and take timely action where required, adding that proactive coordination among departments is essential to mitigate urban flooding risks during ongoing rains.
