Commissioner SBA imposes ban on bathing, swimming in canals

NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division, Shahmir Khan Bhutto, has imposed a 90-day ban on bathing, swimming, and recreational activities in canals across the district.

The notification was issued following a request from Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad District.

According to official notification, the decision has been taken in view of recurring incidents of drowning and loss of human lives during the summer season when people visit canals and water channels for bathing and swimming.

The ban applies to all major canals, distributaries, and waterways within the district. Authorities have directed police to ensure strict implementation of ban and to take legal action under Section 144 against violators.

The commissioner has urged public to cooperate with the administration and avoid entering canals in order to safeguard their own lives and their children.
