MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Karim Khan chaired a meeting and decided to accelerate crackdown on counterfeit cigarette networks across the division.
He stated that the illegal cigarette industry was causing losses worth billions of rupees to the national exchequer. He stressed that the law would be enforced equally, whether it was a small kiosk or a large departmental store.
Aamir Karim Khan directed authorities to take indiscriminate action against those involved in the sale and distribution of fake cigarettes.
The meeting also decided to launch intelligence-based operations against the counterfeit cigarette mafia.
He ordered the identification of illegal manufacturing units operating under the cover of warehouses, ginning factories, and open spaces. Officials were further instructed to prepare comprehensive lists of major suppliers and distributors in every district and tehsil.
The Commissioner announced that the performance of all districts will be strictly reviewed after Eid, warning that routine actions will not suffice and that visible, impactful results are required.
Price Control Magistrates have been assigned a special task to include anti-counterfeit cigarette operations in their daily performance reports. He also directed enhanced monitoring of closed factories, warehouses, and other suspicious locations.
Aamir Karim Khan stressed the need for immediate coordination with intelligence agencies and instructed authorities to keep the media informed about awareness campaigns and enforcement activities.
He reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy has been enforced across Multan Division to eliminate the counterfeit cigarette mafia.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, the Director Excise, customs officials, and other relevant officers.
